hey guys i am in dire need of help once again....my redtop still isnt running and its giving very weird feedback....about two weeks ago it was sorta running, needed new plugs and timing done but it would still start up. since then i have replaced the plugs and now it wont start at all. it seems to be getting fuel (when i pull the plugs they smell like gasoline) and all 4 of my coil packs are firing. also when i crank it my boost gauge reads like .5 in of vacuum. my only conclusion is that the CAS isnt in properly so im going to try and reinstall that. any help would be greatly appreciated thank, you for your time

What engine? Engine error codes?

three things that will cause an engine not to run. Spark, fuel, and timing. if you have spark and fuel, it must be timing.

when you reinstall your cas make sure cylinder one (one all the way in the front) is at top dead center of the compression stroke. Easiest way to do that is plug in your handy compression tester, stick a rachet on your crank bolt, and turn it untill you see the compression st art to rise. When it starts to rise, disconnect the compression tester and lightly guide a long screw driver into the whole. one the screw driver reaches the upper most piont, you know you are at TDC. then you can reinstall the cas so that the little dot is aligned with the... whatever you want to call it .. "mating mark" as the FSM calls it.

When i first got my engine it would not start. i had to reinstall the cas, this is the way i did it. if it is not the correct way, i apologize, but mine started after i did it like this.

it has to be timing..

ok, i redid my timing but im not sure if its 100% correct cuase i couldnt print off the instructions on the CAS install....also i found i was getting fuel but not much at all since my pump had bad ground, so i hard wired it to a kill switch. the last thing i found was that cyl 2 wasnt spraying fuel and traced that back to a dead injector....im not sure if its dead becuase the injector is actually bad, or if its wiring is bad, or whatever. so now i honestly dopnt know where to go with it, but i do know im going to try to get some 1gDSM 470 top feed injectors and rail and see if that helps. i will get a compression tester and let you guys know how that goes and i will try to do timing again after i get my injectors fixed...thank you very much

so once you put the plugs in the car your engine would not start? What kind of plugs did you put in? and did you check the gap? and i know its your call but i dont think you should upgrade stuff if you dont know whether or not thats the problem, especially fuel injectors. upgrading those means an ecu tune which means more money. however if you are sure your second injector is bad then i guess it is not such a bad idea to do the upgrade. the only downside to this is that it will take time (between getting the injectors sent to you and the time it would take to have your ecu tuned) and just to be 100% sure it wouldnt hurt to just replace that fuel injector, since all it takes is a trip to your local auto parts store and not nearly as much money as an upgrade. plus you'll have your car running sooner and while you were waiting for your new injectors. you can replace it with a '95 300zx TT fuel injector. (its a purple plug) if you come to find out that is the problem then you can always sell your 370's and use that towards your upgrade

snap on sells this niffty kit that tests the injector wiring. if anyone you know is a mechanic, they should have it.. i think its the fifth one in the box. if not, you can just stick two needles in the plug, and then hook up a volt meter to the needles and get somone to turn it over for you. or you can just stick an injector from another cylider that you know works onto that part of the harness...

you can jump or a test light across the injector plug, when you crank the car it should flash it will flicker. Then you can put a timing light on crank the motor over see if it flashes and if your timing is close. Doublecheck that you haven't hooked your fuel linings up backwards I have now seen that twice. Check the codes on your ECU good luck
