I have a 1990 240sx fastback and what I think is a fuel problem but i could be wrong. The car starts fine and SOMETIMES idles smooth and sometimes idles rough. When its in gear (its an automatic mind you) it sometimes will run fine and smooth but other times will run very rough and once in a while die. tonight was the worst it died about 6 times and i only went down my street someone please help! i have replaced the spark plugs and wires and also had new injector plugs put on due to corrosion. PLEASE HELP ASAP!!!

did this start after you installed the plugs?what type of plugs did you put in?if they were bosch platinums (or +2, or +4) they will cause those symptopms. use only ngk or denso plugs.

check your maf sensor the one inside the collar after the intake air box theres hole you can shine a ligth in make sure neither of the 2 little wires are broken then spray it with some carb or eletrical cleaner.

and listen for the fuel pump making weird sounds like what was happening before mine died on me

could be the idle control valve search for a post on how to check it. its a common issue.

also never hurts to get a can of seafoam aerosol and clean out the intake manifold in case somethings sticking. just hose the inside of it and clean the throttle plate with toothbrush & rag.

also check the egr valve you just have to feel if the diaphram is still moving up and down when its cold.

also check all the little vaccum hoses to can get to like the one between the egr and the bpt which controls the egr.

I am so sick of hearing how horrible Bosch platinum plugs are. I can't personally vouch for the 2 or 4 prong ones but I have been using the single prong Bosch platinums for over 6 years and 100,00 miles with no problems of any kind what so ever. Maybe I am the only person that these plugs will work for. Or just maybe everyone else has bad karma.

Integrals90: As for the problem of your car it could be a number of small things but I think Gumby has hit it dead on. I doubt it's your pump but I concur that you should check to see if the EGR is engaging at idle, or IACV is sticking. Also if you need to clean your MAF do it with electrical cleaner NOT CARB CLEANER!!
