So I started my car today and the hood started to jump up and down. I turned it off and popped the hood and the 2nd cylinder I believe (2nd from the front of the car) the spark plug wire had popped out with the spark plug still attached to it. I'm going to see if I can carefully screw the spark plug back in to get it running again later. What would cause this to happen? Should I not put it back in and could this be a serious problem? Thanks guys, Dire91.

The threads on the spark plug are fine and there was no like metal scraps on it. Can I just use a flashlight to look down to check the threads in the motor.

Did you just recently replace or check the spark plugs? Seems reasonable to say that one didn't get tightened down if the threads are still there in the head and on the plug. Don't see how a tightened spark plug could have unspun itself with the wire still attached.

try to get the sparkplug out of the boot and run it back in the head carefully by hand... if you feel any sort of resistance stop and remove it

The previous owner completely hacked the car, they are aftermarket spark plugs so the only thing I can think is that he didn't thread it correctly other than that does anyone have any ideas?
I was able to get it out of the spark plug wire and thread the spark plug back in by hand. It started up and ran but is there anyway I would be able to tell if the 2nd cylinder wasn't firing? Thanks for the help guys!

I'd just replace them all now, just do them and do them right and know you dont have to worry about them. It probbaly was not tightened correctly. Just do them and see how it feels when threading that one in. Good Luck!
