Im on the brink of giving up. I have tried everything that i know how to do, to get this thing running correctly. The timing is so weird just to get the car to even be drivable. It POURS out black smoke at idle after you beat on it. The boost leak has been fixed (abuot the only problem i was able to solve) but everything stayed the same. I have a loud whining noise coming out my exhaust before it starts making boost and when it does make boost, its up towards 3500-4000rpm... and even then, it will only hold at 5psi or less. (have stock T25 with 7lb gate on there) it doesnt burn any oil or coolant and the leakdown test came out damn near perfect across the board. i am just lost as to what i should do to get this thing running right. the other thing it does is it breaks up REALLY BAD above 5500 rpm. someone please help

IM DESPRATE!

Phil

Not so MGS13...

some mods and other stuff you've done to try and fix would be helpful in diagnosing a problem.

i listed no mods cause there are non. Its a BONE *** STOCK SR20DET S13 Redtop T25 Turbo in stock location. all the way down to STOCK MOUNTS. nothing has been done to this engine whatsoever. IM not even running a boost gauge anymore. I removed that this morning to eliminate a boost leak as a possible problem. I have 0 leaks in my system. i havent done anything other than repair the boost leak. the turbo is freshly rebuilt. 2nd turbo ive had on the car since the swap. This turbo is actually a temporary downgrade. The calm before the storm if you will. The GTI-R T28 i had on there was heatsoaking with the sidemount so i took it off and went back to a newly rebuilt stock T25. It never had these problems with the T28 on there... if its the turbo ill be VERY upset.

if your timing is screwy and you're shooting black smoke, that's not a mechanical problem. You have some sort of electrical gremlin.

I assume you're using the right ECU for the engine, right?

yes i am, Correct MAF, Correct ECU. this problem was not there before i swapped out turbos as i said. This car is as bone stock as an SR swap could ever get. The only thin i did was eliminate A/C Condensor. which should not do anything at all other than take away weight and 1 belt. i wish the sound was something i could describe. its just so ****ing weird!

bad turbo with a sticky shaft?Take off the aluminum elbow and finger the turbo blades (with the engine off) like you are fingering your girlfriend and see if it spins freely. You have the correct injectors in there? they are purple right? maybe the person who had the engine before changed something that you dont know about.
