My 240 has been lagging dramatically for over a month now and its really bugging me since a lot of mechanics are telling me something different. It runs smooth from 1-3.5k rpm then it dramatically lags after 4, it still lags when its on idle when i try to rev it. Me and my friend checked the computer code and it gave off the knock sensor and I just changed it hoping that was the problem but it wasn't. I also checked at the muffler shop if it was the CAT if it was clogged up and it was perfectly fine. I also have no check engine light. These are the things i've just replaced. I knew 240's were a headache but goddamn.
O2 sensor
NGK spark plugs
Fuel lines
Oil/oil filter
Knock sensor.

i had this exact same issue and it ended up being a really simple solution, i picked up some MAFS cleaner from autozone, sprayed it out thoroughly and now she runs like a champ!

Well I pray and hope that the problem is this simple. I'll clean my mafs for the heck of it and i'm going to have my fingers crossed. Thanks.

the MAF sensor is a common culprit. That, or try your fuel filter as well.

Maf sensor, Fuel filter, maybe a sticky/bad injector.

Well my mafs and fuel filter are fine, but now I have to look up how to check for faulty fuel injectors.
