Ok, I already have a KA24DE with Manual trans, I have the clutch master, and slave, and pedals, but how much wiring is there, and wouldn't it be easier to drop in a SR and make that work?? I think maybe I bit off a little more than I can chew!! Thanks!!

Hi, waconia, and welcome. drive your *** down here and we can kick it.

or leave your car with me and i'll do it all myself.

dropping in an SR is going to be the exact same level of hardness. i dont **** with that SRness, but i love my KAs. but i can honestly say that you have to do the same basic thing.

you'll be yanking your motor. then you have to yank the entire wiring harness and the ecu. this si pretty easy with te motor out. then, to convert to manual, you are definately going to need some more parts. however, unless you get an auto SR everything up to this point is the exact same.

otherwise, the differences in wiring up a manuel transmission in where an auto was is pretty much a matter of hookin in a length of harness for the 5speed.

so in otherwords, you have the exact same amount of work involved to swap in a KA as you do an SR. you may have bit off too much.... but its all easier than you think. it would be nice to have a manual 240 to look at for reference though....

but... once again, like i said, i can definately help you out. i have room for a 240 in my garage, and i already have more parts to do this then you do.... so you have friends nearby

Hey, i just finished the same swap on my 240, and as far as the wiring, i used the wiring harness that was already in the car, Just have to mess around with the wiring for the IACV, and the distributor, One problem that i did run into, the car won't seem to idle with the IACV vaccum line hooked up. I'm still trying to figure that part out, but if you run into the same problem, maybe you can give some advise.

hey ryan, ive read your other posts and i didnt know how to help your situation

thanks for adding that you could figure out how to use the harness, because i knew you could, i just wasnt sure exactly how.

as far as what i would do if i were you ryan: just plug the nipple on the intake tube, and plug the inlet to the IACV. you can set the idle with the little stop on the throttle body. you'll see there are two little stops, one for WOT and one for idle. you loosen the 8mm bolt and then adjust it with an allen wrench.

and that other nipple on the intake tube runs into a vacuum tee, and as far as i can remember it just provides vac to the charcoal canister, however i dont know what else the other end of that line runs to....

but you can certainly get rid of ALL vac lines on a DE except for the brake booster and the FPR. ive been running this for awhile as ive switched back and forth between my custom intake manifold. obviously you have to plug everything accordingly, but it works and idles jsut fine.

Hey Dude!! Thanks For the encouragement, This is actually for a customer, but I am getting out of this business, due to physical problems, so what I may do, is get a hold of this clown, and have him come get it, and drag it out to you if you wouldn't mind, but let me warn you, the car isn't very pretty, but he claims to have it sold for 4K, which is messed up, since I just let me 97 SE 5spd go for 5K, but what ever!! I will send all the crap, which doesn't amount to much, but it should work out, I suppose you'll have to take bolts out of the motor in it to bolt the motor and transmission together, but it should all be there. I have no time, nor mental ability at this point, I am 2 seconds from being institutionalized!!! BLAH!!!! Anyway, if you would like the work, I told the kid a minimum of a Grand to do it, so let me know!! Thanks

i wish i had a 97 SE.... sorry you had to let her go.

I would love to talk to this kid, i have the stuff and the ability to do it, and a grand is exactly what i need. Can you shoot me an e-mail at [email protected]?

whoops, sorry man, its such a common term, but not to all. and its useless to put an abbreviation if it isnt defined earlier.

its a fuel pressure regulator. you should be like an s14 and run it directly off the nipple on the lower half of the intake manifold. its towards the rear of the plenum closer to the firewall. its actually really close to the large brake booster outlet.

there are a few nipples like this that you may have forgot to plug. one is on the lower plenum towards the middle of it. sorry i cant be more descriptive.... and there is a nipple on the throttle body, so check those too

youre not using a SOHC ecu are you? im very curious
