Hey there...im sorta a noob with 4th gens, not so much 5th gens (dad has one...).

Anyways I just had a quick question. Say I was looking at a 1996 and a 1998....I know first off the major exterior difference is the bumpers.

For instance say the 96 is in better condition than the 98, but what updates if any would make the 98 a better choice? Just to be correct, the bumpers are interchangeable between the years correct? I prefer the look of the 97-99 bumpers.

Bear with me haha. Trying to get out of the 240sx game and into some sort of 4 door...if it matters I would love to swap a vq35 into the 4th gen as a long term project down the road. Thanks

the bumpers are interchangable. with the front you got to change the grill as well. with the trunk, you need the 97-99 taillights. inside the car the gauges are dif. the 95-96 odometer is manual and the 97-99 is digital. the 95-96 has a flip down drawer under the cd player while the 97-99 has a push in/pull out drawer.

Not all 97's are digital, hell none of the 97's i have had were digital. My 99 is digital but it also has a transponder as well. The 95-96 arent much different from the 97-98. The 99 is the bastard child tho.

95-9 gle's have the sliding drawer, gxe and se are the flip down. i think 95 is the best model because it's the most simple one - no immobiliser and extra emission stuff + i have one and like it
