I NEVER thought I would be posting such a thing, but time and progress has its way with all of us. :)

NICO, in order to keep up with the changing face of motorsports, is going to be adding (within the next several days) a new forum to cater to the rapidly-growing sport of drifting.

This represents a significant advancement for NICO, which began with our affiliation and support of the Formula Drift Series, and has led to the introduction of our newest sponsor, Drift Factory. I, as the CEO of your forums, intend for this to culminate in NICO fielding a drift car (yes, a NICO drift car) for the 2005 competition season.

Anand (Black240), Ryan (BuudWeizErr), Rubin (Former 240 S14) and Chet (ExarKun) will be moderating this new forum. They're going to have their hands full making sure this forum doesn't turn into a flame-fest. Try to help them out. However, since no one here is making a living on the drift circuit, we shouldn't have too many prolems with "know-it-alls". :)

Drift Factory will be presenting this forum exclusively, and will provide NICO members with insight and technical expertise in the sport of drifting - They will be active in the forum, to answer any questions you may have about technique, equipment, and car setup. This information will come from someone who is active on the drift circuit and has years of experience in competitive drifting (I'll let him introduce himself :))

This, my friends, is HUGE. :)

Here's an introduction to Drift Factory (http://www.driftfactory.com) , whose banner wil be appearing very soon:

Drift Factory is a drift company based in Southern California, dedicated to providing drifters and other motorsports enthusiasts with quality aftermarket performance parts. We are located at 725 East Cochran Street Unit E, Simi Valley, CA 93065.

Drift Factory is a specialty retailer of drift-specific parts. We cater wholly to the drifting market. We are an authorized dealer for many of the top automotive parts manufacturers in the industry including Blitz, Kaaz, Racing Brake and Cusco. These parts are warehoused by us at our US location and are regularly IN STOCK which means that your products are usually shipped the day you order them. If you are looking for a part that is not currently offered by Drift Factory, we will do our best to special order that part for you. We like to distinguish between our special order and in stock parts so that you know exactly when your parts will arrive. All of our products are safely packaged and shipped to you promptly via UPS so that you may track your order at any time. Drift Factory is pleased to announce our new line of Drift Factory merchandise including T shirts, sweatshirts, car-specific jerseys and drift clothing for women.

Our mission is to educate our customers about the rapidly-spreading sport of drifting and provide you with high quality performance parts that will enhance your driving and/or racing experiences. Our goal is to exceed our customers' expectations. Drift Factory values customer feedback. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact us by email, fax, phone or in person.

Our success is heavily dependent upon our ability to satisfy you. Our customers are the driving force behind our product selection and continuous improvements. Drift Factory understands that our customer mix ranges from the novice drifter to the more accomplished racing professional. We recognize that each customer has specific needs as well as varying product and service requirements. Whatever your drifting needs, we are willing to work with you to find the right parts.

Drift Factory is very proud to be affiliated with the largest group of 240sx owners on the Internet, and we look forward to a long and productive relationship with the NICO forums!

Please welcome Drift Factory to the forums, check out the NICO Drifting Forum when it arrives, and keep it SLIDEWAYS!!!

CEO eh? Alright, time to buy out NICO and offer a liquidation for the stocks then Greenmail AZhitman for all the money he's worth. We better do it quickly before the SEC makes Greenmailing illegal!

I guess I'm going to have to be the first voice of dissent.

Although in theory this sounds like a good idea, in practice it will probably degrade into something worse than 240 general.

IE.- stupid Honda bashing-stupid debates over what "rice" is-stupid debates oves whether FWD can drift- old, and stupid KA vs. SR vs. CA debates-stupid can my car outdrift a... (blank)-stupid.... well you can see where this is going

Hopefully I'm wrong though, but I have a feeling that a drift forum will bring way to many dumb, 15 year old bandwagon jumpers.

Only time will tell I guess.

Although the effort I'm sure is appreciated by all.

i'd be more worried about the mullet coming back first

I for one think it's great that we have a forum like this. I doubt that it will degrade into what Yashin said. Those don't relate to drifting in any way, so I don't see why it would pop up in a Drift forum. Honestly, the forum won't be used too much initially anyways until more people get into the sport or start going to drift showoffs.

The worst I could see happening is a bunch of kids who are watching Initial D for the first time, coming on the forum and start talking about how they wanna be a mad drifter like Tak and KT

heh, I actually thought you got banned or something for a little while, then discovered you've been hiding in the tech forums:D

oh, I feel sorry for you and the huge waves of dumb noobs that are gonna go there after a google search and ask how much horsepower their civic needs to drift...

it'll get those hits up though, maybe some higher ups in Nissan NNA will take notice of this phenom known as the drift and decide to put the 2.5 in the right way...

Buud has assured me that he will refrain from his destructive tendencies and be kind/gentle.

We will probably have our hands full with silly questions, but if we maintain an attitude of seriousness in that forum, it can be contagious... Our Moderators are very professional and will do a fine job of making sure the forum remains as presentable as any other on NICO.

Thanks for all the words of support, guys - This is gonna be cool!

We would like to say hi to all of the NICO family. We are excited about the prospect of such a large and diverse community like NICO taking a serious interest in drifting. You will find that Drift Factory is just as much about promoting the sport of drifting as we are about selling our products. We love drifting and we are drifters so if you have any questions feel free to ask. We are looking forward to the new forum and we hope that it will serve to really open up the sport to those that don’t know about it, or may not have had as much interest in it up to this point.

instead of just a drifting forum, lets have a Motorsports forum, where all types of racing can be talked about.

That Motorsports forum could be subdivided down to Drifting, Auto X, and SCCA/Track events. Maybe drag too, though... to my knowledge, that vast majority of our members are here to support their crazy hobby that involves their daily driver or project car that, as of yet, doesn't run, and won't be raced for a while. To be more simple, I don't think most of the members actually race, we just wish we did... I could be wrong...

Thus, a Motorsports forum wouldn't see too much action. It would have vids and stuff, and chat about what we'd like to do, but not much else. Therefore, a drifting forum is probably the only useful motorsport forum at the moment because it's ballooning. It is also the sport of choice for the vast majority of members (240 owners). Not to mention that with two sponsors being drift-oriented, it only makes sense.

Just my thoughts...
