There is always a bit of judgement required in deciding the appropriate schedule for maintenance items. For example your manual will have a schedule 1, schedule 2 and 3 (premium) maintenance schedules which is dependant on type of driving i.e. all long trip highway vs. lots of city stop-and-go trips. For most people the city driving with stop and go applies and will dictate maint. items such as oil changes which is every 3 months/5000 kms under the "maint 2 schedule". Basically the Rogue has very minimal maintenance, and at 55,000 km I would not think your CVT fluid or transfer case fluid would need to be changed, the Nissan maintenance schedule does not give a set increment to perform the CVT fluid service, instead it is based on calculations done by the onboard computer and normally the fluid is good to 150,000 km and beyond - some dealers may try to convince you otherwise so be sure to look at the manufacturers schedule and not the dealers own schedule (some dealers create their own maint. packages and intervals).
The best way to catch problems that can be fixed under warranty is not necessarily to flush your fluids but instead have good regular inspections done and pay attention when driving for signs of problems. However some owners will be proponents of flushing the fluids much earlier than stated in the manual, and there is nothing wrong with this strategy other than the cost as CVT fluid changes are very expensive.
During basic maintenance trips you should have several items inspected including the suspension, all front end components such as ball joints, belts and hoses to detect early signs of wear and problems. This is the best way to ensure you get repairs done under warranty, ensure they are inspected at regular intervals and pretty much all service shops include these inspection items with your basic oil change package. The other way to determine if you may need some work under your 3-year warranty period is by driving it and looking for abnormal handling, suspension noise over bumps, rough idle, abnormal engine and trans noises under acceleration/load, and abnormal braking. If you're unsure you can have a tech perform a road test for you.
