I noticed that you can set the maintenance intervals for oil, filter, tires, and other. Though what I could not find was where it shows you the remaining mileage left to do these items. Is that not available in the menu? Do you just have to wait until it informs you that a specific maintenance is needed? Also, what would you use the other button for? A major service reminder?

I don't have a 2006+ M, so cannot comment ... on my older M, it only has the ability to set a reminder for the maintenance you mentioned and select the miles that you want it done at. No other options at all!

Does your Owner's Manual mention any other capability?

If you go into the Maintenance menu, there are bar graphs which show the interval for each item. Each bar graph shows you how far into your interval you are. It doesnt show you the exact mileage left, it just shows you in graph form, where between 0 and your interval you are.

For example in my car, Im half way through the oil interval, which was set for 3750 miles.

Whatever you want to remember via the system. Some people might use it for tires, or wiper blades etc.

Hmmm... thanks for the clarification. I was thinking that, but wasn't sure. They should enhance that feature to show the mileage remaining when highlighted.
