Please refer to the 'SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE GUIDE' provided with your vehicle.
According to the warranty, you should perform 'regular maintenance' as per Schedule 2 every 7,500 miles to keep the warranty valid. You do not have to use a Nissan dealer for this. Simply document the service (oil changes, filters, etc) with receipts.
Do you need the service? IMHO, regular maintenance is important. However, they are so few parts that actually need regular servicing nowadays. The biggest things are:
- Regular oil & filter changes- Lube the chassis - ie. door locks and hinges- Clean & lube the brakes yearly (esp. in snowly climates)- Rotate the tires- Annual inspection: ie drive belts, suspension, exhaust, CVT fluid, etc.
The dealer will likely offer this and probably more at the 30,000mi interval. Remember: service is how they make their money. It's up to you if you decide to go for it.
A special note about the CVT: The CVT fluid condition is actually diagnosed via the transmission computer by the dealer. You can go years between changes.
As for me personally? I do not use the dealer. I perform all my own service including oil changes as per the Maintenance Guide. I back up everything with documentation and receipts. And I probably save a bundle in the process.
