I was wondering if there are lots of places out there who will work on sr20's and do regular maintainence on them or if you have to do it all yourself or how does this work. This is the only thing that scares me from getting the sr20 since I don't do much engine work.

If you have no tuner shops around.... yep, you're on your own. As for regular oil changes and transmission oil changes... I'm sure any shop will be able to do it just fine. Just make sure you know what kind of fluid and filter sizes because they will not have that information.
