Main bearing tightening torque

So, the mechanic who's helping with my engine said, that he finds the main bearing tightening torque spec of 54Nm (40 ft.lbs.) extremely low, as it is about half of what he's seen on any other engine before. He hasn't worked on CA's or Nissans before, though.

So, is this torque correct? Is it sufficient for a 400whp-ish build (30psi E85)? Does any builder here use more tightening torque under various circumstances, or has the stock torque worked out OK for you in all situations?

i've tightened mine yesterday ^^

for the main caps(crankshaft) it's between 41 and 44Nm

for the rods one,first,between 11 and 14,and 2nd pass,between 41 and 44(same as crank).


I was surprised too,because i know that for the sr20det,it's extremely different

I was looking on the FSM,everywhere,and it's that.
