Magnetism?

What types of metal do not affect magnetic fields? Meaning the magnetic flux is undisturbed when the metal is passed through the field.

i believe aluminum. or what ever braces are made out of. i think they are aluminum. I think im rambling on now. yes i am so i will stop now

non-ferrous metals are not affected by magnets. "non-ferrous" is kind of a misnomer as ferrous refers to iron(symbol fe) when many iron containing alloys are non-magnetic. therefore, the proper term should be non-magnetic.

aluminumstainless steels(most but not all)just about everything else

i guess the better way to go about this would be to specify what is magnetic. that limits us to steels and other high iron content alloys.

Oh, and I'm not sure what kind of braces you guys had, but I could stick magnets to mine and they'd stay just fine. Maybe they've changed what they make them from now, though. I dunno.

then you have to take the time and think about how a metal detector works it will pick up aluminum and other metals, even though they are non-ferrous metals

Metal detectors work by sensing density variations.
