ok guys, im just curious...i saw an add in "import tuner" for a magnetic oil drain plug and i am thinking about getting one for my max. it doesnt add any power or anything like that, just collects loose floating metals in your oil to help improve engine life. when i looked them up on the website they were out of stock. i emailed the company to see it i could still order a few and i was just curious to see if anyone else was interested???

A good oil filter, and performing the scheduled maintenance should eliminate the need for a magnetic drain plug...but it also can't hurt.

I would, however, be cautious of using something other than a plastic or brass washer on the drain plug. You want something that will provide a tight seal between the plug and the pan. From the picture you provided, that looks like a steel washer, which would tend to hold it's flat shape.

personally, i have never used a washer. ever since i started doing my own oil changes, i never even knew there was supposed to be one there until i saw these. anyways, the website calls them "crush washers," whatever that means. i just thought these plugs would be a kinda cool, and cheap, added protectant. here's a link to the washers if you want more info - http://www.passwordjdm.com/pro...D=451

Its a good idea you can never have too much protection.

A crush washer is exactly what you need.

The crush washer is a required replacement on any Nissan/Infiniti vehicle during an oil change. When I do oil changes on my car, I use Nissan filters and they usually give me a new washer to go with the filter.
