After mulling over different exhaust options for the M45, I decided to go the custom route. I was looking to preserve the quite cabin noise level, with just a touch more sound at WOT.

I ended up removing the mufflers, and installing Magnaflow #11225 stainless mufflers with custom tips. Link here for muffler: http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/shop ... in&id=9266

Overall, I am happy with the sound, and the new tips fit the contours of the Factory opening very nicely. Feel free to comment!

Here are a few pics: (my driveway makes the right tip look crooked  ) Sorry for the dirty car; I do live in Washington!

Yeah I heard that on the recording, too. Not sure what that is, but it is not present live. I had to go back to the garage and check after uploading the video, kind of freaked me out!

Nice, I like this sound .. what parts did you have to buy to achieve this sound ? .. I would like that for myself without the tips, I kind of like the dual rounds. whath was the total cost to do this ? Is it loud from the inside ?

btw. that clicking is probably your tensioner, I had the clicking first too then it turned into knocking.

I had a local exhaust shop perform the install. I bought (from them) two of the mufflers listed above, the tips, and labor. Total was $325 out the door. It is just as quite inside as it was stock, until you go WOT. Even then it is not much louder than stock. Overall, I am very happy; as those were my main objectives.

I also have a low mile, modified 2000 Dakota R/T which has Flowmaster 50 series SUV mufflers on it. The exhaust is fitting for that vehicle, but I did NOT want the same volume level on the M45.

Rut roh! Tensioner? Please elaborate..... what part, how much to repair?

Did you just put on the axle back or the mufflers or is it with the mid pipe too ? $325 is a great deal .

I dont know what the cost to replace the tensioner is ,I had it done under warranty. but it sounded just like yours in the beginning clicking noise at idle and after awhile it turned into knocking at low rpms... but I am assuming I would have paid around 300-500, labor 120/hour parts etc.

I did just the axle back for now. I wanted to see how the sound was, and then decide on the mid pipe or not. I am thinking "no" on the mid pipe at this point.

Are you referring to the belt tensioner? You have me nervous now! lol

Yes belt tensioner... I always had some problems with it ..: clicking, belts squeeking wierd noise etc.. whenever I went to dealer for service they told me it was normal. Then the bearing on the tensioner got really bad and it started knocking at Drive and reverse on low rpms. Took the car in last saturday and they determined it to be bad bearing on belt tensioner... the problem went away after they changed it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4-WP3CVyQ0
But your clicking could be something else , I just noticed it in your video and it did sound like mine but then again it doesnt have to be the same problem I had.

The link you provided is for the product you have ?

After some experimentation tonight, it seems to be coming from the AC compressor. I tried it with climate control on & off, and it went away. I am thinking it is normal, but way more pronounced in the video. It sounds like a tapping lifter in the video!

I appreciate the information; at next oil change I will have them look at it.

Yes, the link provided is the exact mufflers I purchased. Notice the offset mimics the Factory setup. Hope the info helps, and would love to hear what you come up with.
