either one is fine. If you want something loud, go straight pipe, :P.

I'm sure if you search on youtube for 240sx exhaust, you can find a bunch of sound clips - I know quite a few members have uploaded videos from here.

search?

i.e. instead of a muffler on the end of your exhaust, just have a piece of piping - 3", 4", whatever. Instant loudness.

Aw, man...don't tell em to do that

Get a *real* exhaust. You can save plenty of money by having a shop in town bend you a new exhaust as opposed to buying a prefab one, and then you can still stick any muffler you want on the end. Personally, I'm partial to Flowmaster because they make a great sound without being particularly loud at cruise. Magnas are louder (hell, technically its just a glasspack), but still not bad.

In the end I suppose it'd be what you're looking for: ...or...

ono: I know, I know...but...meh. I'm just all for diminishing the rice population.

abdow: Yes, a magna is louder than a flowmaster 40s, and has more of that glasspack "rack" noise to it. Though honestly, if you were going for scaring Hondas, you'd more likely blend in with them with a loud *** fart can. If you wanted to scare em, spend the bucks on a NOS cheater or a cam or something be scary fast instead of scary loud. Also, it may interest you that compression and engine wear have quite an effect on just how loud your engine actually is. Worn out engines tend to sound a bit more like a hair dryer, engines with higher compression sound both "angrier" and much louder.

Flowmasters tend to be raspier while magnaflows are usually more crisp. The thing that will have the most impact will be the resonator, that's if you even choose to get one.

But yeah, if you just want loud and cheap, get straight pipes. I think they sound terrible (you might not) but they are LOUD, and cheap.
