Hey guys, long time, no speak.

My 260SX is featured this month in Super Street Magazine. Here what's the cover shot of the vehicle looks like:

It is an absolutely excellent article (if I say so myself), and highlights fairly well the 8,500+ hours of labor. It's on newstands now (I got a few copies at WalMart).

The vehicle is also in the September issue of the UK publication Japanese Performance.

Next month, expect to see the car in Car Audio & Electronics, Redline Magazine (UK), and Street Xtremes (Sweden). Other mags are in the works for Winter/Spring 2007.

Thanx for checking them out.

Scott

He's a real tuner, and real tuners dont pay people to put thier motors in for th em. Thats what makes a true enthusiast.

thats an opinion, which ur entitled to but maybe its possible that he bought the engine and other parts then installed them which is what maroon240 may have been asking, but im sure he didnt cast the parts cause THATS the hardcore enthusiast/tuner!!

Thanks man---I really appreciate that. Yup, although I didn't cast the rods and forge my own pistons, I did the entire RB26 swap in my garage. Here's the write-up:

http://www.buwaldahybrids.com/speed.htm

I did 99.9% of this build-up by myself with some select help from friends (Brett Nelker and others). The only thing I didn't do was the actual chroming, the exterior paint spraying (although I *did* do all of the body work, S15 conversion, etc.), and the window tinting. Everything else was DIY.

Of course! Car audio is in my blood. But the speed and power addiction grows. I got my KA-T S14a project coming along now. We're gunning for 700+ whp. It's all fun, but expensive...need sponsors!!!

So if one wanted to say:-Check Vehicle speed-Check engine speed-Check engine temp-Check boost level-Check well, anything...

One would have to look at the center console? I don't mean to bash on the car, its hotness, it just seems like that would only work on the dyno and would get you killed driving on the street.

What would be cool though would be if it were all in a HUD along the bottom edge of the windshield. Thats just what I would do if I wanted to clean out all the cluster. But it is your car and a very nice car anyway.

saw the article, have to say it is by far the nicest modified 240 i have seen. very well done. i can appreciate a good and unique audio install (i used to do audio professionally for a while). i really dig the pop up rear window. thats really cool. congrats on the placement. you even got a decent quality review (most of super street's showcases are poorly put together to say the least.) im digging the color also. subtle but unique. nice change for their cover car to not have the biggest widest , and you get the idea. bravo. well done. (sets bar up one notch)

The name sounds mighty familiar. Weren't you the guy with that incredible RB26DETT-powered orange kouki S14? If so, then I don't need to read the articles to know the awesome-ness of this project (though I will anyway).

wow 8500+ hours thats 6 hours a day every day for 3 years, if you did your self you saved at least $425,000 by doing the work your self... ad that is at the cheapest labor ever! considering average labor cost is about $65/h and custom labor is usualy between $75-150/h....

Hey bro:

Not the center console, the dashboard, right in front of the shifter. The center console monitors are for the reverse camera, and as a display for the on-board computer. Naw, having the CAMP stuff display in the center console would be suicide!

the_momo and topless94---thank you for your nice comments!

irax: Yes, I see that you've done the same math I've done. The car was recently appraised at $290,000, simply by virtue of the amount of labor, not to mention +$85,000 is supplies and equipment (the amplifiers alone are worth $26,000). Thank God for sponsorships and for a Visa card. I'd say in the last three years, $60 grand has hit the 'ol Visa card, and until just recently, I was carrying a balance on some amount of that total (and paying interest).

...and I couldn't get anyone interested in hosting the car in a booth at SEMA; not even any current sponsors, like Falken or Volk. Figure that **** out. Is a $290,000 cover car in SS *that* common nowadays????!!!!

I'm sorry, by center console I mean the center of the dash too, my error. The way I see it, there are three screens, 2 of them are in the armrest/center console, and the other is in the center of the dash about where the stock radio was. So do you think this is safe? Staring at your radio while driving a fast car would be suicide as well. By no means am I trashing on your nice car, it just seems like it would be unpractical to use (having all your vital signs down and to the side).

Those pics are great. I did my RB25 swap a few years ago and decide that I didn't like my hatch and found a black coupe that I am not in the process of moving everything into. To me doing the work is as rewarding as driving the car, so many props to you for all the long hours, blood, sweat, and occasional tear. It looks awesome.

So has this car made its way down the track or is it strictly for looks?

Thanks everyone!!

And to answer the above question...I have two project cars. To some, this may be a dream come true. To those that actually *have* two high-end project cars know that it's like having two wives (and we all know that one is enough, thank you!) Long story short, the car shown in the pages of SS hasn't been tuned yet. I have been so damn busy with my huge KA-T build that (gasp), I haven't had the chance. Once it's tuned, it'll HAVE to be taken down the track. Every weekend, no. But at least a few times.

My other car, the KA-T, is my street car, and daily driven. Currently at 420 whp with a GT30R, and about to go to the next stage...GT42R, 4" hot and cold piping and 4" in/out large FMIC, and fuel to support it all. Hoping for 700+ whp.

Good to see the car getting some publicity. I actually live about a half mile from Kustom Workz now and am waiting for you to come back up and bring the car. Good to see you back on NICO.
