could I put the MAFS on the cold side of the intercooler right in front of the throttle body and put the bov in front of that. would this cause problems? I figure that I could vent to the atmosphere in this configuration. it would just make piping a little easier.

you could...but it'd most likely mess up your fuel mixture if you didn't tune for it...the best place is between 15 and 16 inches from the impeller blades to the element in the MAF...in a draw through setup. This is just what I've heard works perfect :)

Why would it mess up the fuel mixture? It may even make it better since the MAF is measuring the air at the exact temperature it is going in... and yes, since it is measuring by heat the air temp does make a difference. Also, there should be almost no time difference between the measuring of the air and thus air entering the TB/motor. Don't know if this really would make a difference but theoretically it would.

The problem would be when the BOV opens and some of the air trapped between the TB and BOV would back out. Don't know if there is really enough air to make a difference, probably would make the car run rich for a few moments.

I'm still trying to decide wether to go BT or DT myself, although I am gonna go recirc so the decision ain't that important. There was a thread not so long ago about this, but no real conclusions where drawn.

That's the main reason...you end up running really rich on the shifts because it does back up a bit, even with a good BOV. I'll try to find out more on why it's a bad idea :)

thanks, if it is a bad idea, it might be good to know

There was a guy on here that did a BT setup on his KA-T and he said it worked well. As for the stumble w/atmo BOV's I know it can be a problem with the DT. I would think that if you put the MAFS right in front of the TB and put the BOV on the hot side of the turbo (after the turbo, before the intercooler) that it shouldn't stumble. You also wouldn't have to worry about venting cooled air. Since I don't have any first hand experience with this, I don't know FOR SURE, but it sure seems like it would. Hope this sheds some light on the subject.

But would there be enough air between the MAF and TB to cause this? I guess we are all second guessing here. I think I'm gonna give it a try and let everyone know. :pface

BOV -> MAF -> TB

can a MAF hold up to the boost pressure if you move it next to the TB?

forgot to mention that this was for a low boost setup, 7psi right now. When I increase it things will change a little. Im not looking to tune that much, bolt and go. just adjust timing with a RRFPR
