Okay, so the only way I can get the car to idle by itself was to disconnect the MAFS and then it will idle perfectly. I switched out the CA MAFS for the SOHC MAFS. I rewired the connector for the 3 pin connector like so:

Black---> BlackBlack/White---> Black/WhiteWhite---> Green/Yellow and Green/Black

When I plugged it in, it still ran roughly and super rich. Would not idle on its own and would not start without me pumping the gas. Should I get another MAFS from the junkyard and try that? The SOHC MAFS was working perfectly when I swapped out my KAE motor, so I thought that it would have been fine.

Also, while limping the car back to my shop, I noticed the radio turn off, then a couple minutes later my digital speedometer turned off and the car died and I had to pulloff to the side of the road. I just let it sit for like 10 minutes and then got back in the car and it started right back up like nothing happened, but about another mile down the road, it did the same thing. Either the alternator isn't charging the battery fast enough, or the battery isn't holding a charge very well. I'll switch the battery but if anyone has experienced either of these problems before some advice would be greatly appreciated.Thanks,Mike

My car shuts off randomly too. Except I have a new battery and rebuilt alternator. Your car will run just from the juice in the battery. The alternator can be dead and the car will still run...for a little while. If the battery dies, the car won't restart.

Do your relays ever click when they shouldn't? Do your injectors open when they shouldn't? These are some of my problems. What I haven't done is disconnect my maf, which could be causing the problems. A bad maf would cause the problem you are having. What about insulated wire for the maf wiring, have you done that?

Oh, yeah. Check for leaks between the maf and the throttle body. However, it definitely sounds like an electrical problem.

Sounds like you guys got a bad do-it-yourself wiring job. You may do enough to make the thing run, but there's so much more to it than that.

Yeah I guess so. But there are only a dozen wires to cut and connect, so there really isn't more to it than that. I've been over the wiring over and over again. It acts up without any movement of wires, so I don't think that's the problem. All my wires are carefully connected and insulated. My car runs and it runs well! Just not all the time. Heh. Can you give me some recommendations beyond "you didn't do it right"?
