MAFS issue

So anytime I put ANYTHING on the MAFS, the car wants to bog down and die. By anything I mean anything, filter, coupler, my hands cupped around it, etc. I moved the MAFS all around to make sure the wiring wasnt shorting out with movement, and I checked for vacuum leaks in the intake hose, nothing. Could this be just a weak MAFS?

maybe your idle is just set too low, or you're running way rich causing it to be finicky and bog down easily.

i noticed that when you cup the maf, close the hood, etc., the idle will change a bit but it should settle out after a few secs.

I just adjusted the idle, tried with the filter on and no dice. Checking for codes tomorrow to see if whats goin on, but its running the same otherwise, so Id assume not super rich or anything.

Have you checked the MAF according to the FSM troubleshooting procedure? Also, when is the last time you cleaned it out?

cleaned it out yesterday, its brand new looking. Havent trouble shot it yet, maybe Ill do that today.

I had a similiar problem with my RB20. Turned out to be uber-fouled plugs. Never did get a really good tune on the car...
