I'm using a Q45 MAFS on my SR20DET motor but had to butcher a cone filter and ghetto rigged it to bolt on to the Q45 MAFS. Is there a MAFS adapter available for the Q45? Tried searching on this forum and google but came up with nothing. ANy of you guys running cone filters? If so, how'd you get it to fit nicely on the MAFS. Thanks in advance for yur advice guys.

Buy an Apexi dry filter. Its ready to bolt onto the q45 maf. its the one with the silver top. I belive its the power filter. Its huge. Besides Nissan Maf's arent very happy with K&N oil sometimes.

Mine looks similar to the one in that link Rex posted.

Mine is a blitz, and is marked for a S14/S15 SR20Part No: 56023

(Looks beautiful on the Q too )

Front of the Box....

Side of the box, showing the components of the filter.....

Adapter plate and clamp..... (not required for my install)....

Installed on the Q.....

It's a Blitz SUSPOWER CORE TYPE LM.P/N: 56023.

I think my car already had an adapter on it from the K&N that was originally on the car when i got it.

Rex, that's a sweet filter but the $159 price is kinda high for me right now. I was kinda hoping for one of those generic cone type filters with MAFS adapter that they have on Ebay for $30. I guess I may have to pay to play. :o)

With mine, it has a 5" inlet on the filter, and clamps on to the adapter plate. It is fitted to the Q45 AFS, as it's in a Q45!!I just checked the blitz website for Australia... and their list price is $199!!!

(I paid WAY less than that)

there is no cheap filter to fit the Q45 as far as I know... trust me... I looked!Like you said... you may have to pay to play...

i cant believe you guys are talking about putting restrictor plates just to put on a filter. the whole point of putting on an "aftermarket or high flow air filter" is better flow. 3 inch intake to a 2 inch intake??? just get a huge freaking air filter. this is why people say cone filters dont work on these cars. i noticed a huge difference with this filter. take the time to do it right!

I dont think anyones talked about putting in a smaller filter opening. Some people have linked potential Apexi filters, which arent the right ones. I have one thats already a pop-charger, bolt on to the MAF with no reduction in opening. I can' tpost a pic because its horrible outside, and my Digi-cam is with family.

Besides, You do get more noise, but as nissan designers had in mind, you wont be necessarily sucking in cooler air. The front of the Q is all boxed sealed up, allowing very little ventilation for random cool air for the filter. At high speed, it may well be better. However your sucking in HOT air at lower speed. Besides, do you really think nissan designed all thoes stupid baffles to just make the car more expensive? Aside from noise reduction, there is also a resonant frequency in which the factory air box creates allowing it to suck in air.

I didn't go down to a 2 inch.......

I went down from the 5 inch outlet of the filter, to the inlet opening of the AFS.....

unless the AFS is 5 inches in diameter, and my ruler is broken.....(which it's not)

The pic of the adapter plate I posted, came in the box with the filter, and I stated I didnt use it for my instal. (It's still in the box now)The adapter plate was for it to bolt to a STOCK S14/S15 200sx.... as listed on the box, and stated in my post.....

The K&N adapter already on the car is the same size as the AFS, the blitz one was a smaller inlet, hence why I didnt use it... I NEVER said the adapter already on the car was smaller than the AFS, and I dont believe anyone else said thiers was either.

That's a cool looking plexi-glass setup, where's the air flowing from? Have you noticed any performance pluses or downfalls?

I got a "Pro-Charger" kit off ebay a while ago that was posted for a J30 and I was able to make it fit the Q45 MAF. Top two bolts bolted right up but the bottom two were a bit off. I used a couple large washers to get it mounted but it works fine with no leaks. I plan on fabricating a heat shield like that plexi one but probably just using sheet metal and some weather stripping for the edges. If you get it to fit right you wouldn't need the top as the hood will do that. I also want to modify the intake plumbing where it passes through the grill so it'll get ram air.

I am concidering custom fabricating some Q45 MAF adapters if anyone's interested. Possibly putting together a kit with a heat shield and the MAF adapter. A 4" cone or similar filter works fine.

Full throttle at 5K RPM is music to my ears!
