Has anyone ever heard of a procedure involving running a ground wire from one of the MAF connecting wires to a plenum bolt to solve MAF woes (on the 1st gen Q)? One of the techs at the local dealer (nicknamed Super-Tech) suggested that I get it done and said that he has done it more than a few times with stellar results. He got the procedure from some Infiniti repair hot-line in California. It’ll cost me $20-$30 bucks so I figure I can’t lose. Is anyone wise to this procedure?

All this does is bond the ground terminal on the MAF to an EXTRA ground.......some problems were associated with corrosion in the connector......this has been superceeded by a new type replacement connector. But it can't hurt anything.

Important to check all the frame to engine bonding wires along with those on exhaust and all around the car for road salt corrosion.

What year did they modify the connector. I have had some problems with mine, but it is at the MAF box connection. Once a month or two I have to pop the hood and wiggle it. I have taken it off and cleaned the connections, but it always comes back.

94 connector is different from 90-93 and you can buy replacement connectors from Infiniti Parts department.
