MAF wire question

what are the functions of the wires going into the MAF, there is a white one, a black one, and a black one with a white line(this is the only one that when i test is getting a volt signal) are the other important, my car has been running great except when i floor it sometimes it just sputters and pops, other times it picks up and goes and some times it just loses power, i have a redtop sr in an s14 body, any help would be great thanks

Black/White Wire is 12Volt (power wire).White Wire is 0-5V Signal (the wire that sends the signal to the ECU)Black wire is ground. (grounded at the ECU but can be grounded anywhere)
