does any one know what it takes to change from a MAF to a MAP sensor? i have been lookin into doing the change but i cant find a good write up any where. I know that the Z32 MAF is the most common route but I thought that I would like to look into this just to allow better flow into the engine i hate the stock MAF its so F**in small. and the Z32 still has all the honey comb in there to block flow. Any one know what parts I need?

You need either a standalone ECU, or an add on unit like the old HKS Vein Pressure Converter.

Then you simply take the map sensor, put it into the intake manifold somewhere, wire and tune appropriately.

Z32 MAF has that mesh screen to smooth out the flow (laminar flow) for better sensor reading. The way it's designed, it doesnt create much pressure drop between the MAF. If you really want to decrease the pressure drop, look into your entire intake plumbing system starting with your intercooler then going to your piping. Length and bends. Those three things affect the system as a whole much more than the mesh screen at the MAF.

does anyone know if it is truly worth it to do a MAP over the Z32 MAF?

If you are making over 500RWHP then yes. At that kind of flow rate you are pretty much reaching the limitation of Z32 MAF sensor.

Also if your standalone requires it.

BTW, what kind of setup do you have?

not enough to warrent this at the moment but I am workin on it I am trying for about 400whp I didnt know that the z32 didnt run out till 500 so i think that I will go with that.

i was wondering if a map setup, will hold a tune through out weather changes and elevation changes better than a maf setup? as in it will react to keep it self in its prime area as it surroundings change

given that MAP sensor is working together with IAT (Intake Air Temp) sensor, you can calculate the density. This will give must better condition of the intake air charge compare to just measuring the flow based on the thermal element at the MAF sensor.

thank you very much for explaining that, i was told that all i needed to get it working with my emanage would be the pressure, and i understand now to fully have the potential of this system i also need intake air temperature to allow system to calculate more accurately. thanks once again
