hey, well I'm doing itb's, with a plenum and all since i dont want to go standalone. what i need to know if there are any MAP sensors that would work with a nissan, basically looking for a sensor that sends the same type and range of signal as a KA MAF, my MAP sensor that came with the gixer itb's i got is also three wire but then again that probobly doesnt mean much. i know someone is gonna say to just get a megasquirt or something, but i can't, i live in chicago and i have a 96 so i get to do emissions the electronic way.

you'll need an ecu that will read a map. nissans that use mafs wont do that.

Or you could check out DeviousKA's ECU tuning forum and read up on how he is converting stock nissan ECUs to read MAP sensors. http://www.HybridKA.com. But as far as i am aware, this is for OBD1 only vehicles.

Aside from standalones, the e-manage and e-manage ultimates have a function built in to allow them to run on a map sensor. You have to purchase a map sensor from Greddy. I believe with the original e-manage, you need to keep the maf as well, because the ecu runs off the maf in vacuum, but transitions to the map sensor once into boost.

With the ultimate, I think you can just get rid of the maf altogether and run the map.

well, not necesarily true. you *can* run a standalone, if you REALLY want tothe trick is to tune your standalone so that it can still pass emissions, then you need to also keep the stock ecu powered, with fake signals (read unplugged or resistor soldered in)

if you arent familiar with wiring diagrams dont bother trying it, but it could be worth it...

.......

or trade your 96 for a 95 and say it wasnt ODB2

actually, ive been thinking of almost the same thing as you = map sensor that sends MAF equal signal to trick ECU (in my case, a non D-Jetro powerFC)

if i make any progress with it ill let you know (but ill probably end up just buying an s14 SR one and repinning it... or megasquirt (a close third possibility is haltec)
