has any one on here done a MAF to MAp conversion. i know that PFC give you the ability to do it. i am checking into if aem give you the ability, which so far i have found it does. but i was wondering if any one has done this and what method you went with.

I have, but what is your question. Is it better? frankly i hate dealing with maf's, so for me yes.

ya the pfc works alittle different, it is more capable that the AEM though. But If you want it tuned right, you will need to ring it to a tuning shop and have them throw it up on a dyno.

Go with the AEM, you can do WAY more with it then the PFC. yes you can do the map convert, i have it on mine right now.The AEM is far more user friendly and you can tune with it yourself eaiser, and it has a built in data logger so you dont have to buy that as an add-on

There really is SO MUCH that you can do with the AEM. It is more expensive than the PFC but can run just about anything you want it to.

AEM/Haltech are the two EMS solutions I'm looking at right now. They are far superior to the PFC. The PFC is a good beginner level EMS, but lacks certain features that I need.

Not to mention the customer support, AEM has an entire fourm dedicated to EMS owners, they have engineers that browse the topics daily to spot and aid with any difficult problems that may arise.

yes i will be tuning the car my self. i have free dyno time at ours schools shop on a mustange dyno we are having installed. it will bea huge learnign experience for me.

i am going to start by tuning for a over bore and raised compression. for fora stock turbo and injector. probably a port and polish will be figured int othe tune. plus doing a map conversion. and 264 cams.

i can get the aem unit for the power will be interesting but at least it will be drive able well i break the motor in. then i will up grade to a gt3075 or gt35 later on next fall.

i really want the aem unit. how muh more does it cost for the map sensors and stuff.

AEM sells a MAP for 170 and IAT for 60. You can get your hands on other stuff a lot cheaper than that, but their sensors are really accurate and durable. You can get an IAT sensor out of just about any speed density car but map sensors are a little harder to find.

I did the MAF to MAP conversion a couple of years ago. It was really easy, I used a GM 3 bar map and a GM AIT.

I will agree with you on this. There are so many different things that you can set up with the AEM. Aem definitely outweighs the PFC by far

Also, I would recommend horsepowerfreaks.com. They were really helpful and also did a price match for me.

yeah. heavy throttle is havine a sale with the aem unit plus a aem wideband. which are both things i need for tunning correctly.

i can get parts for shop discount through our school shop.

who tuned the aem unit them selfs? or did you guys have a shop do it. this is part of my sr project for my auto tech program. so i am doing everything my self minus the machine work.

going be a big step to do the tunning. how was wiring up the sensors.

i hope they can srew in the botton of my intake manifold. i suppose i can drill the holes out and thread them if i have too.

I screwed the AIT sensor in the intercooler piping just before the TB. I mounted the MAP sensor remotely and ran a vacuum line to the MAP. Didnt HT go out of business/ get bought out by P2M?

im running a pfc djetro on mine and i love it. i will never go back to maf. as far as i know i thought the pfc was the most user friendly and it even comes with a handheld controller. I know the pfc also have a launch control.

I am in the process right now of converting my sr20 from maf to map. I chose a different route than aem or pfc though. I am going with Vipec v44 they are fairly new and out of austrailia. im getting it locally tunned here in the alberta (Canada).

let me know how the aem system works out for you
