can an MAF from any nissan work on any nissan? i figure they are sending the same computer signals and the onyl difference is how much they can handle. is this true?

unfortunetly, the answere is no. I hooked up a sr20de maf the other day and my car ran EXTREMELY rich.

The voltage curve for most Nissan MAF's are different...

That is...at a certian airflow, a 200SX MAF may read 1.2 V, and a 240SX MAF may read 2.3V, and the 300ZX MAF may read 0.8V.

...and the MAF has to match the ECU.

Because it's a curve, not a linear relationship, you have to use something like an S-AFC to convert one curve to another, if you want to use a different MAF.

what about an MAF for a car of different trims? for example, 240sx fastback vs coupe, or sentra E vs GXE?

It has to match the ECU. If the ECU is the same, then the MAF will work. I know it's the same between the 240s you mentioned, but I haven't a clue about the Sentras.
