Like many postings about this frustrating problem, I seemed to finally find something that has work (at least for a while) and I thought I pass it along. Using an awl gently insert above each of the three section on the plug which results in pushing down the pins so the grab the male side on the MAF housing. (hope this is not old news)

So you're tightening the connector pins... I've done that before, and it works well - just don't think I posted it! I would add, be gentle - you don't want to tighten it too much...
