That depends on why it failed.

If you're lucky, it'll just be a bad connection. You can try cleaning the harness connector and see if that helps.

As far as the MAF element itself is concerned, there's really no way to tell if cleaning will help or not until you've tried it. Be gentle with it, as it's pretty delicate. Use a quick-evaporating electrical cleaner and steer clear of harsher cleaners. Spray and let dry a few times and see if there's any improvement.

When the MAF goes, you will know!

Starting then stalling, hoping you will make it home.

If is a finiky thing. Mine costs 365$. Dont know if Ihave the guts to mess with it.

If you are getting a code but the car is running fine,it would just clear the code.

welcome aboard

yeah check the wires going into the plug that plugs into the MAF. sometimes those have a slight tendency to come loose. beyond that, give it a good cleaning with MAF sensor cleaner and see if that helps.

CRC makes a MAF cleaner that works good if it is simply a dirty MAF. It's about $6 stateside and worth a try as it might save you $100+ for a new MAF. The Good thing is the MAF on the 00/01 is less than half the price of the 02/03 MAF for the VQ35DE.

Here is a pic of the can

How do you replace the MAF in a 02 I-35? It looks simple except for the bolt that you can't get to. Do you have to remove some stuff? Also is there anything else I need to do besides just change out the MAF's?Thanks
