Recently the maf sensor code popped up (ecu code 12) for my 1991 DOHC 240sx i have tried three separate sensors and they all give a constant 5.12V reading whether engine is on or not. So i figured maybe the sensor isn't fried, So what else would cause this? All opinions are welcome.

Where are you messuring the voltage at? Be sure you are on the correct pin.

Have you done any work on the car prior to this code showing up? If so double check that you did not pinch or cut a wire by mistake.

The previous voltage (5.12V) was the reading using ecutalk i think that's the highest voltage on the gauge they provide for the maf. i just tested it again using a multimeter and that's between pin 1 (far right) and ground and its actually 9.74V, and that's for both of the maf sensors that i have.

I haven't touched anything dealing with electrical, major work done is HG, and removing emissions besides that i don;t know

Can a bad ecu be the problem? i had a time when a spanner fell on the battery and it shorted but i didn't notice any immediate problems. Does the ecu have a fuse that can be replaced if shorted?

also am trying to figure out a way to test the maf senor harness, how is that done if possible?
