My car has been jumping in RPMs and I'm running out of ideas here. I replaced the TPS and adjusted it to the correct voltage. I replaced the fuel filter and the air filter. I even had the transmission checked out and they dropped the pan and the transmission mechanics conclusion: Not the trans. SO.... My voltage is at 0.45 for the TPS and im shifting around 1900 RPM. I know you are supposed to shift around 2800 so my question is what could be affecting my Shifting and speed? Also does anyone have a link or the post to how to clean the MAF sensor Im lost to what is causing this any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated

Dude I had the same problem If you look at my past posts IT drove me crazy.. When in idle my rps where all over the place... When in drive and foot on brake(parked) the car would wanna take off. Driving on highway car would hesitate...Driving low speeds would be good but would stall at lights and stop signs

I changed my collant temp sensors and cleaned my maf sensor and helped a lil bit.. Then I got A maf sensor from the junkyard and it drove great and started acting up again..Turns out the sensor was bad..

To clean the maf sensor theres 4 bolts on it take it off and U can see the resistor inside.. use maf sensor cleaner... make sure u clean or replace ur air filter if.. still no good replace the sensor... I had the voltage specs to check the sensor but I lostem em.

If u have the same problems i had replace it.. It cost me 300 bucks for the sensor, new and 40 bucks at the junkyard... but that one was no good. now my car runs great

Your car does not shift based on RPM's it shifts based on speed of the vehicle. The TPS helps the car with shifting by providing some more information.

Say you want to do a WOT run, The TPS is the one that tells the TCU that the throttle is Wide Open and you want to hold 1st gear till redline.

Read this to clean the MAF sensor: http://q45.org/maf.html

Clean the MAF sensor and see if that changes things, then move on to the TPS.

Ok i'll clean it and all tomorrow but I replaced the TPS and it fixed the problems. It was doing it all the time but now it does it here and there so im guessing it's the MAF and the throttles are probably dirty as hell so i'll clean them tomorrow and report any changes =)

i had the same problem. i took out my maf to clean it but it wasnt dirty, it looked fine. so i took it apart, you're not supposed to. they do a pretty good job of sealing that thing up. so what i found when i took it apart was two circuit boards, one above another. the bottom one you cant get to but it looked like one of the pins on the top one had come un-soldered. either that or i broke it when i took it apart. so i went to wal-mart and got a soldering iron and some solder and some gasket sealer to put it back together. i re-soldered the part that i thought might have been the problem, sealed it up, put it back in and it runs great. cost me 12 bucks and took an hour. my car used to die at stop lights and even moving at slow speed. it started out as just a high low idle like yours though. hope this helps, good luck!!!

You could clean the Throttle bodies and the MAF sensor, Or you can go the whole 9 yards and clean the AAC valve, Throttle bodies, EGR valve and plenum and be sure you did a great job.

Either way though some thing cleaner is better than nothing.

Well i was going to use that seafoam cleaner thing to clean the valves and all but i heard you arent supposed to do it to cars that over 150,000 miles? my car is at 149,000 so im a bit cautious about it.

Don't use Seafoam becase you run the risk of hydrolocking the engine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrolock) and it does nothing, except for "cleaning" for 200 miles, its basically temporary cure.

Make sure your air and other filters are all OEM.

If you think its fine then its OK, But cleaning does nothing but help when and expericed tech does the work.
