The MAFS can also cause a lot of trouble if it's malfunctioning. Bad signals from a MAFS can cause an engine to run really bad. That's why some high end tuners convert to D Jetronic which uses a Manifold Air Pressure (MAP) system which eliminates the MAFS altogether. With this setup you can run an atmospheric BOV. This is for really high 500+ hp applications. It is much more expensive, but computers like the Power FC D Jetro and the HKS FCON VPRO (the absolute top of the line) eliminate the MAFS
