alright bought the car without a hood and the previous owner really wanted an aftermarket intake so he slapped one on right in front of the MAF. Now to let you in he also wanted an aftermarket exhaust sound so he unbolted the exhaust from the final cats back. I have been experiencing quite a bit of rough running with some backfiring and extremely strong rich exhaust smell from the pipes. Now I have not checked the injectors and arkansas uses that 10 percent swill so that is not completley rulled out. But my attention turns to the maf first because of the rich smell and the hoodless state of the vehicle. Could the closeness of the intake to the maf be causing these problems due to an uneven flow on the maf sensor or could it be caused by gusting wind cause it. The weather here is very erratic like a bipolar menopausal women weve had an ice storm in a day and the next day was 60 some odd degrees could being exposed to this cause some of these problems

Its the MAF sensor. You need to clean it or replace it of cleaning does nothing. http://q45.org/maf.html
