Well.. its happeded again. my MAF connector has been loose for some time now. today I took it to the dealership and they replaced my connector. When I picked up my car its blowing black smoke. as if its running rich. The dealership is telling me I need a new MAF. Its funny my car was just missing a whole lot before I took it in. But it wasn't blowing any smoke. Any ideas?

Did you check their work at the MAF connection?

I got your phone call this morning, i couldnt answer because I was just heading out the door..

I dont have a MAF for you... Im almost wondering if the dealer messed up the install, because usually bad MAFs dont cause that sort of problem (at least not what people on here have experienced).

That sounds weird.

I thought the symptoms of a faulty MAF were rough idling and bucking.

Black smoke means burning oil right?

Thanks Guys. The dealer did mess up. They have placed the wires on incorrectly. They claim the FSM is wrong. But they corrected they're mistake without too much worry. Thanks anyway. On a seperate note. I always have thought I had the best maintained Q around here. Butr was wrong. Go figure
