Car's been good for years (just the normal injector replacements)...now she's acting up. I checked fuel pressure, swapped out fpcu with a known good one, scoped and ohmed injectors, ohmed ks's, checked egr, cleaned aac and bench tested solenoid with 12v, replaced plugs (couldn't get to no. 7!!!), checked for spark from coils with spare plug....still getting rough idle and bucking under power. I suspect the MAF...or mabe a clogged injector? I disconected the MAF and tried running in fail safe...but it still seemed to run a little rough. I've ordered ECU talk so i can do a power balance...but I'm thinking if i can get a cheap used MAF....I'll try that first. I've seen some right now on ebay...for $100 bucks...sounds too good to be true....what do you guys think?

thanks guys....

just want to add...I checked the MAF connector, wiggled it around, cleaned it, tightened it....removed and cleaned maf sensor with maf cleaner...

Im in same boat as you, some of the said ebay sellers seem pretty reputable. Im checking local scrapyard prices on maxima MAF before I turn to Ebay (no Q45s here at all! ). Maybe just go with a top rated seller with good return policy

I'm still wondering if anyone has any experience with or opinions about the $100 so called "new" MAFs offered for sale on Ebay from "Only MAF"?

Happy holidays....

They are probably just cleaned and "tested' used MAF.. You can usually find used Q MAFs for under $100 elsewhere so I might try that first. USUALLY used ones are a good bet.

On your present MAF, using a single edge razor blade or hobby knife, cut the silicone sealant around the top "box" of the maf and remove the top= you will see the point where the connector pins are soldered to the circuit board- many times the entire problem can be fixed by resoldering these connection points- the constant vibration eventually causes these solder joints to fail and lose electrical contact!

Thanks...I took the MAF apart today and checked out all the solder joints with a magnifying glass. It looks pretty good to me. I should have taken a pic for everyone. I'm going to check the timming and do a power test soon, hopefully it's just a clogged injector. I'm getting it narrowed down slowly but surely but I don't have a heated garage and it's 10 friggin degrees out.

Thanks for your help

Recently also had a problem with my MAF. The Q would run fine then all of a sudden she would studder (hesitate then accelerate) under crusing. Also the idle would wander. Then it would work ok for awhile. I couldn't find the problem so took it to Brian at All Import Service (aka Jerry Tucker). Brain slightly pinched the female bullet terminals on the MAF connector to get a solid connection and it has worked without a problem since. According to Brain, after years of heating and cooling the female terminal can slightly enlarge leading to a bad connection. He said he has fixed 100s of them. Not sure if your problem is the same but it is something to check.
