I just bought a stock r33 rb25 MAF to replace what i though was a bad MAF. Well the issues i was having with the Z32 MAF have not gotten any better. When i had the Z32 MAF installed the car would run normal for a day, but the next day i would crank the car and it wouldn't idle past 2500 rpms. When i look at the SAFCII it doesn't read any air flow. As i drive the car the SAFCII will begain to read air flow for a few minutes the cut back off. It goes back and forth like that, it will read then it wont.

Well with the z32 MAF still installed i checked the voltage. The power wire had 12.X coming in, the ground had .02, and the signal read around 1 volt. Is it normal to see .02 volts on the ground?

When i installed the RB25 MAF the voltage was 12.x on the power, 10.X on the ground, 11.X signal. I think i had a bad conection on the ground wire. but im not sure i will have to try this MAF again.

I reinstalled the Z32 MAF again and i got the same readings as the one above.^ So i grounded the MAF to the body of the car, and got the same readings as the first time. Power wire had 12.X coming in, the ground had .02, and the signal read around 1 volt. but the car still wont rev past 2500 rpms and the safcII still isnt reading constant air flow.

Is it ok to ground the MAF to the body of the car?

If anyone has any idea what the problem could be please let me know.

thanks,william

1st question, has the car ran good with either Z32 MAF or a R33 MAF?

2nd question, are the pin outs between your to MAF's the same allowing you to switch between MAFS without rewiring a new plug?

Check for continueity between the MAF and the ECU. Also, I would run along that harness and make sure its not crossing with any other wire. Is there an issue were the wires are near the exhaust components which are heating up the wires and throwing off the readings?

All in all you might just have a bad harness plug to the MAF..

1. When the Z32 MAF was in it would run normal some times, but i would be driving down the road and it will just stop reving past 2500 rpms. I look at the safcII and it is reading 0%air flow.

2. No i have to wire the plugs every time i switch them.

I have checked the harness all the way up to the fire wall, and i dont see anything that is crossed or touching.

Could this be a ecu problem?
