Does anybody know that if on an sr20det, if the maf can be placed in between the i/c pipes of the throttle body and the intercooler??? also is the maf tempature sensitive??? like for instance if the air flowing through the maf is colder will it run more lean and if it was hotter air would it run more rich or something like that. but ya if some one knows about it, if someone can let me know.

thanx,NiCK

it's a heated wire that has a resistance that will vary based on temperature. you can put it there, but might need to account for it in the fuel maps...

Yes u can put it on the cold pipe. Thats called a Blow thru setup. The only down fall to this setup is that it will lean out the mixture quite a bit..!! Just make sure u have a wideband and keep an eye on that a/f ratio. Ive done this setup MANY times on many 240's and it ALWAYS leans out the mixture. Pros to this setup are if u blow off an IC pipe, your car will continue to idle and run like normal but without boost and ull know when u hit the throttle cause there wont be any boost. And u can run OPEN bov to hear that lovely sound most of us like to hear.. I personally have this setup and its the best yet. Drives like n/a..!!!

Cons are if u have any IC piping leaks, you wont ever know unless u have 2 boost gauges. One at the compressor and one at the manifold and see the difference. If u have a 5 lb leak, your turbo will have to compensate for that extra 5 lb loss which in turns pushes your turbo more than what it has to, thats bad at high boost. Its bad enought that your stressing the turbo at high boost, but now since u have that leak, that turbo has to push EVEN MORE to compensate...Im trying not to speak TOO much and confuse u, but there are SO many variables here and there to consider...

Normal suction maf is good cause you WILL know when u have an IC leak and if an IC pipe popps off, your stranded until u can find the break and fix it... Suction type maf are VERY picky when it comes to idle especially if u have a leak...
