maf on an s13...

i have been told and read about a 300zx maf going onto, and being very useful on an s13, tha only thing i havent found is which generation and model 300zx.theres a 85 300zx non turbo down tha road that is just sittin there and the guy is parting out pieces of it and i was wondering if i used tha maf off it if it would even help my car at all or anything.
