MAF on '96 sentra

My sister has a '96 sentra that is having some issues. I pulled the error code and it's the P0100 MAF malfunction. I searched a thread about this but it was in reference to the SR20, hers has the 1.6 (SR16VE???). Some suggestions on there were to check the wiring harness to the MAF and other connectivity issues. I've done all this so the only thing left is that the MAF has simply worn out I suppose. Are there any other nissan MAF's that are compatible since this one is expensive? Would an SR20 MAF work? I would think as long as its OBD II it should. Thanks in advance.

Have you pulled it out and looked at it? You might just have to clean it. A can of MAF cleaner costs about $7.
