I keep seeing threads from people with MAF problems and I had a question. How long should they last on a car? 100k miles?

they should last the life of the car if you ask me

toyota is a lot worse at making maf sensors, on ta-slow-mas and slow-runners they go out pretty quickly.

Ive got 180k miles on my QX4 and still running the orginal MAF sensor. Just cleaned it once.

After being on here for 3 years and reading all about MAF sensors,
it seems to me that it's mostly a problem with 2001 models (first year of the 3.5).
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Have to agree with buzzman, there must have been a small change or something after the 01's because it is mostly with 01's.

Yeah, but the MAF was also used in the Maxima too... May have been an ECU issue with the Pathy.

Buzzman is right. My MAF lasted about 200K miles. Even with all the issues the '01's have they're still very solid vehicles, at least compared to my old '94 exploder.

I have an 01 and at the beggining of the year it went bad. I went on ebay and got one and 4 months later non stop engine codes. This lead my vehicle go into a fail-safe mode where i couldn't go over 2000 rpm. I ended up going to a 4 wheel drive specialty shop and getting a nice AC Delco. This was a month ago. Hopefully it will last a long time, but my advice don't go with one from ebay unless it is the name brand stuff and not a nock-off

Yeah, those are OEM from a Nissan Dealer...only way I would go off of eBay. I was half thinking of picking one up on the cheap as a spare.

I think I was the first one to buy this off of Mark and linked a bunch of other members to it. His part was exactly the right one and an awesome price. I think I may have bought an O2 sensor from them as well.
