car will idle when started for about 4-6 seconds perfectly with no problem. after about 5 seconds it dies out. this is with the maf plugged in.
if i start the car with the maf unplugged it will idles as well as you would expect it to idle without a maf.
ive put a walbro 255 FP, megan racing FPR, it has a working o2 sensor (ecu doesnt throw o2 codes), a full stock cat, egr block off plate, injen intake, megan exhaust, bigger plug wires, NGk plugs, new dizzy, cap, rotor, coil pack.
now my question is, what would cause it to not run with the maf plugged in, if the maf was GOOD. i know that if it idles without the maf and wont idle with it that it means the maf is bad. but ive gone through three different mafs now, one of which i know was good. what else could it be? short in a wire?
the maf plug on my cars harness has three wires, but the mafs ive tried all had four prongs. what is that about? i know the sohc KA had a four wire maf and the DOHC had three wires but why would a dohc maf have four prongs on the maf and only three wires on the plug. i need some input guys. any and all is appreciated.

had the exact same problem on my 93. went through 3 MAF's and same s***. ended up being a bad wire connection. there are 3 wires, dont quote me on this but im pretty sure one is power one is ground one is data. i had previously cut and replaced the maf connector, and one of my solder's in the wire had come apart and was only attatched by like 3 strands of copper. i cut, re-soldered, and taped the wire and that solved it. also ditched my aftermarket intake and put that airbox back with a K&N drop in filter.

Use a volt meter and post readings, if its in limits according to the EC section of the FSM you should be ok, if not replace the sensor or the wiring harness.
