A question was brought up in the engine pics thread and we didn't want to clutter that thread with tech so..........

Story--I had a Z32 MAF and I ran out of volts (to much hp ) , so my shop guy cut it and put it into 100mm piping (and we tuned the car of course). A lot of other stuff got done like another fuel pump, bigger cams, little bigger turbo and kit, etc in the same build. I've had intermittent problems with the car since the last build like ****ty idle (a/c makes the car die most of the time, but it's set to 18.1 a/f at idle and sounds awesome when the a/c ain't on, but it was like that before and no problems), intermittent knocking (80+), and he can either tune it so it's running rich on the highway and goes up hills in a low gear at low rpm, or it runs good and lean on the highway, but it lean pops and has no power going up hills, like say 10kph in second gear with the pedal on the floor lugging it. It had some bad ground problems which I fixed and we have since re-tuned, and maybe it still has a SMALL intercooler leak--like a tiny his about .6 bar with a pressure tester (having pressure tester problems). I have read about people putting them in bigger pipes on SAU and having problems, but nothing specific. My shop guy says not enough resolution, and maybe we should have used 90mm pipe.

Coolwhip--you asked when you saw the picture with out knowing about the problems. Input?

I'll try and get some better MAF specific pics tomorrow.

I'm using a RB25 Pwer FC. I was considering going RB26 D jetro since I'm already not using VCT (HKS 264 cams). I've heard varying information on what kind of hp a Q45 can handle. Got any hard info?

no hard info but the consensus seems to be q45 has less resolution than z32. if you check the PFC settings that is the case too. less airflow units per voltage. q45 is just 90mm instead of 76.
