When having a blow through MAF setup does it matter on how many inches the maf is placed away from the throttle body? I am running a 87" Cobra MAF.

sheeesh, I didnt know they make em that big. 87" is HUGE

anyway, I think its 6" on either side of the MAF should be straight with no blockage.

so thats what Im going with, there are a bunch of numbers thrown around though. anyone else?

well people say that... and bought the entire intake off a 300zx to get a mafs, and i noticed, it goes at a right angle immediatly into the mafs, then about .5" out of the mafs it immediatly splits and goes off in opposite 90 degree turns.so I'm not that worried about it.

And I'm pretty sure ftrs13 knows that :pface

Although a 87" MAF would fit nicely to that mammoth engine somebody posted a while back

I have heard the Cobra MAFs are much more sensetive than the 240sx or 300ZX MAFs.

they have a higher resolution than the Z32 mafs, but I haven't heard anything about "sensitivity."I'm guessing you meant that they are more sensitive to having striaght tube in front to smooth out the airflow?

i think it is more important to have straight piping before the mafs than behind it. i would also have it at least 6 or more inches away from the tb. you also want to have the same size or larger piping right before the mafs. you dont want to have smaller piping right before the mafs because you will run rich. on my blow through setup i have about 2ft of straight pipe before the mafs and a large 90deg bend after it that goes to the tb. i was having a problem with it but it turned out to be a bad mafs. i got a new one and it runs good now.

the cobra maf will lend itslef to a blow through easier due to its open ended inlet/outlet config. you can use silicone couplers on it and itll be just dandy--you have to use a bolt on adapter to fit a coupler to the intake or outlet(dont remember which one). This also is just another source of a possible boost leak. Id go with the cobra maf--but thats just me :)

a 3" connector fits both ends of the Z32, too, with a little bit of grinding.

i thought about doing that-but it doesnt look like it would leave much for the coupler to grab onto. IM not to fond of grinding away at stuff like that--but hey, if it works ,right?
