does anyone make a maf adaptor to bolt a filter onto the q45 maf?i might be needing one for my car soon and i run a blowthru setup so the maf adaptor has to be robust like the old hks one...

Yeah theyre on Ebay all the time... Stillen sells them as well as JWT..

I am in the process of making a few cold air intake systems for the Q. I wanted one that would place the air cleaner behind the bumper so I am going to make 5 of them. I had 5 flange adapter plates made with a water jet out of 1/8" stainless steel. I need to get the plumbing welded on still. When they are done I'll post a message if anyone want's one. I have no idea the cost yet. All I have done so far is have the flange cut. It will be made entirely of stainless steel.

Why there? It is a low pressure area and will draw from engine bay heated air.

Look at stock intake. It is in a high pressure air. There was a link to an analysis done on the LS400 (probably archived now) that examined where pressure areas are on the front end. Very similar to the G50 nose.

The area I am going to put it is directly behind a hole in the bumper, it is an enclosed area except for the incoming air through the bumper and a few slots in the wheel well. There is a cover between that area and the ground so there will not be hot air coming up from the ground. The area is not a low pressure area. My stock intake gets air from behind the drivers side headlight which doesn't get any ram air unless you count the small slit/crack around the headlight. The intake tube will pass through a 3.5-4" hole you will have to make below where the stock airbox goes. As long as the installer doesn't make the hole to large it cannot pull in hot air from the engine bay.

The pros and cons have been discussed a zillion times, not looking for a debate. I'm making a few because I wanted one, I'll post photos of where it goes and if anyone want's one I'll prob. have 3 or 4 extra I'll sell, if nobody want's one I'll sell them on ebay, if they don't sell I'll cut em up for another project.

Well, that is a high pressure area.

Of course, even pointing straight forward in front of the radiator, you would probably get 3 HP at say....oh 125 mph.

A few feet above the road is not cooler maybe 20-30 feet above the highway, for sure above the tree line.

The cars in front ................exhaust output. The trucks and semi's a wall of heat.

The ram-air pressure created by the forward motion of the car is proportional to inlet air density and the square of the velocity. Using conditions at 1000-ft elevation and 70F gives the following results:

Speed "ram pressure" 77-mph ( 0.1 psi ) 109-mph ( 0.2 psi ) 134-mph ( 0.3 psi ) 155-mph ( 0.4 psi ) 173-mph ( 0.5 psi )

Each 0.1 psi is equal to a 0.68% power boost, so 134 mph ~ 2.04% IF THE FULL PRESSURE IS DEVELOPED! WITHOUT INCREASING THE CD/DRAG of the front of the car.

The Q oem system has been MEASURED to create a neutral pressure [the speed velocity of air totally offsets the system restriction [7" water column] for the horn, water trap, acoustic filters, and air filter AT 120 MPH at 1,000 feet AMSL and 70F..................uncanny in its accuracy and design.

At 150 mph the pressure builds to the point of almost making the MAF restriction [another 7" water column] transparent
