Alright so after 1 year of debating between Sr20det Ka24de-turbo and Ca18det i've decided that CA18det will Probley be the best route for me... Considering my budget varies from time to time.. the CA is a cheap but strong alternative to my first choice Sr20det, Plus my Brother has a sr20det in his car so there really isn't no need for another one... I'm thinking that it would probely be easy to reach 250 Hp with just FMIC, Downpipe, Exhaust, test pipe, Intake, aftermarket ECU,Boost controller, And probley higher cc injectors...COrrect me if i'm wrong...

I have a few questions that need answering..

I am about 75% sure that a aftermarket FMIC and piping for Sr20det will fit.... with little modification or none... But will ka24det set up fit?

Will Dp for Sr20det fit CA18det fit?

Where to Buy ca18det?

I know boost boy sells them but i think he's not getting them till june or so.....I am located Near D.C. i'm looking for a ca18det motorset, 5 speed i need one before may.. School starts in april and i need to work on my car before school starts or i'll get lazy and my car will be neglected :( i am looknig to spend 1500.00 shipped for a motor set.. test for compression and leaks..

Here's a couple of pics of what the CA will go into :) :) :)

Thanks

Check him out to make sure. These motors are becoming rare................

Hi,

If boost_boy is all out, I will be getting one next week.Let me know.Just to give headsup, it comes with a cut harness, it will be an engine set, engine + 5spd transmission, alternator, starter, a/c, ps, turbo, cas, no ignitor and cut harness right of the engine.I do leak down test on all the engines that I get for my customers , inspect the turbos, also with all my engines, you will get a gasket set which includes valve cover gaskets, half moon pieces for the valve cover, oil pan gaskets, front and rear main seals. It will cost you under 1500 bucks inlcuding shipping. Also, I take pictures of the leak down test, I don't do compression test, on the engines since the leak down test gives better info on the condition of the engine. Plus in order to do a proper compression test, the engine should be running for about 10mins in order to get the best results.

Thanks,

DAMN Teerawood your car looks awesome:) welcome to the CA forums!

I think a KA fmic would work just as well as an SR one, but its not hard to cut and modify the piping some if it doesn't fit exactly...

the SR downpipe works with the SR o2 housing (turbo elbow) and thats what i'm running right now.

and your 250hp goal sounds definitly within reach:)

Hi,

You can catch me on Msn at [email protected]the headgasket will take the 300hp but not for long, especially if you got one that comes with the engine and you don't know how long it has been there, chances that it was never replaced, it is better to replace it if you are planing on boost it up to 300hp while the engine is out.

for 250hp, you're fine with the stock injectors, I would get a walbro/high flow fuel pump. Avoid Venus auto like the plauge. Paid $1700 shipped and it's got bad rings. I've got a rediculous amount of blow by. I got a hybrid intercooler set for an S15 on eBay and I'm very happy with it. Didn't have to do anything to any of the piping. I also got the flying dumpipe on eBay. I'm not 100% sure yet, but I think the O2 sensor bung is too small. Don't quote me on that yet, as I'm going to buy an O2 sensor tomorrow and find out. You've got a great looking car, keep us updated!!!

I'm too busy to sit at the PC and 2. I get bombarded (which is not a problem) and it's hard to focus on one person's questions, so I extend my email address: [email protected]. I only have one engine left and it belongs to member "240trainee" who's getting the full reconditioning (ie rod bearings, rings, water pump, timing belt, headgasket, and headbolts). I know there's a bunch of them coming in because I had all 3 of my friends who import motors get as many as they can and all have gone to Japan recently.

As for the CA's headgasket, I give mine a thrashing 350hp at the flywheel everyday and that's been going on for nearly 3 years @ 15psi. I've done as much as 25psi and the gasket haven't let go, so it all boils to how you fuel your car. And mind you this motor still has the original everything except for the cams and cam seals.
