FINALLY got my grubby little anime loving hands on a few episodes. MY GOD. I was a fan of the original Robotech and a few of the subsequent Macross series that we got over here in the US (Macross 1, 2, Plus OVA are all must haves for those of you that have never seen them!!!!!!!) All I can say is WOW. The CG is UNREAL and the Veritechs are just how I have wanted to see them animated for years. Macross Plus did a nice job with the dog fights between the YF-19 and YF-21, but this is just the next level.

I freaked out my roommate when I watched the first episode. The Veritech fight at the end had me screaming and jumping up and down b/c it was so damn bad a$$...

Think of a line. Now bend that line until it comes onto itself. The line is straight again.

Macross Zero is a good stopping point in the macross series. Macross 7 is really really bad. they use musical instruments to fight. like i said, its so gay, its straight.

the original macross used minmei's singing to defeat the zentraedi. every macross series has had music as the underlying theme. mac 7 was a good series if you could get past the first 10 episodes. then after that, it got damned good.

i don't consider mac 2 to be a real show since it's non-cannon in the macross timeline (that and it royally stunk).

and they're valkyries, not veritechs ;)

but c'mon, guitars used to fight....i like the valkyries, but not the plot. mac 2 was good, but only the stuff in it. but yeah, like you said, the plot had nothing to do with the series.

mac 7 makes sense in the end. it also explains the whole protoculture thing, which was confounded by the misuse of the term in robotech.

Um, nope. Sorry. They are Veritechs. The Valkyrie was the model name for the original VF-1 Veritech. Here is some light reading;)

veritech, short for vairable technology....variable as in variable form...and i knew about protoculture when i bought the RPG. pretty cool stuff, maybe we should do something like that for our cars. i still want a cyclone suit.

The original Mobile Suit Gundam was an animated science-fiction series which debuted on Japanese television in 1979. In this groundbreaking series, the traditional giant robots of Japanese anime were for the first time portrayed as realistic war machines instead of invincible superheroes. The people who used these machines to fight in a futuristic space war were complex characters whose motivations and beliefs didn't break down into simple good and evil, and the story encompassed human drama and social commentary as well as thrilling robot battles
