So my car needs a paint job once I get the turbo done. Right now it's the factory green, however the front end has tons and tons of chips in the paint from the previous owner as well as the rear end being debagged wrong from the previous owner, ripping paint off with the emblems. Also got my car keyed when I first had it when I was working. Sucked alot too. hah. But yeah I'm looking to go orange, and not burnt orange, just a good orange that is nice and flat, with a little gloss to it. I'm gonna keep the front lip black, the side skirts black, and the rear spoiler black. My friend has an s13 with a s15 conversion painted the same way but pink, looks hot. What do you think? Should I get it painted or not even worry about it?

unpainted lip, skirts, spoiler sounds like total crap. whatever you do, paint the whole thing.

well they would be painted, but they would be black. i guess you kinda have to see my car to picture it. the car is green now, however the front lip is black, and the wheels are black with a chrome lip and the tail lights i redid black. what if i just left the front lip black?

A guy I know got a Maaco paint job. I have heard bad things about them, but his looked VERY clean. He said he paid $260 (or something similarly cheap) for it. Of course, I saw it 1-2 weeks after paint, so I cant say how well it will hold up. But it looked guy to my uneducated eye.

I like the idea of your orange/black theme, but you should paint the spoiler, skirts, and lip orange, and do the roof and mirrors in black. I think that looks clean...

You don't own a honda man forget that orange crap. I have seen an all yellow S14 on ebay and it looks like S#!t. You should paint it an original color that hardly no other 240 has like that pewter color that came out on like the 2002/2003 mustangs! I'll find a pic and post it!

Ok here it is, it looks like gun metal but it's kind of like this color!

i've heard that as long as you prep the car yourself, a maaco job isn't a bad way to go.

exactly. There was a guy that would get the $500 special every month and change the color of his S13. Last color he had before it was stolen was this tan color. It looked descent.

But prep before you go to the shop. Sand it and all that crap.

uhh go to my "is my car rice or nice" poll, it should be on the lastest topic page, i describe everything in detail plus i have a few pictures. BTW my car was AWEFUL before they prepped it, no rust but a million bad bondo spots and dents.

I think you should go with the Black and Orange them Chrislis. It'll look original and clean. forget all these old geezers on here who can't think out of the box of a single color. be sure to post pics when the job is done man

Well, it seems like we might have some exceptions on here. Basically everything I have ever heard about Maaco was bad. My friend had his done by them and they literally painted over dead bugs and bird crap, overspray was crazy. And the paint was damaged by someone just sitting on the hood. From what I have been hearing, it is mostly because of their prep and that on their lower cost jobs they mix the paint and sealer together instead of doing distinct coats. I have heard that if you do the prep yourself and get a more expensive job that they can have decent results. I also hear that you can offer a "little something" extra to the guy who is actually painting to do a good job.

yes, but i have BLACK rims, with BLACK tail lights as it is. the only thing i am changing is the front lip, NOT A BUMPER/KIT. and the side skirts (stock) and the spoiler BLACK. the rest of the car will be orange. it's hard to explain how it would come out, but i'll post pics when im done. turbo is first. paint, second.

I Defiantly want to see more maco paint jobs, As I can image that is what my car will get in the future...as for the color scheme....I gotta agree with the solid color idea. Nothing wrong with multi color, but with the body one color and the sideskirts and wing in another color it will like like you did body work with out painting......Even with stock pieces it would still kinda look like one of those kids who bought the body kit and dint paint it IMO. roof and mirrors against the rest of th body works better IMO.

but what ever you do make sure we get pics

I will NEVER get my car painted at Maaco... I saw them finish painting a car and ten minutes later drive it out into open air with dust and crap because they did not have enough room inside... I was like Holy ****!! not that I cared to much it was some ghetto caddy with 25inch rims... (they painted it lime green) My point is I'm not getting it painted there!!... I'm going to bite the bullet and go for a really NICE paintjob looking at about $1200 for it :O

i saw an old school mustang today with that color scheme and it looked good, i just dont think it looks good on a 240... good call on turbo first!in my opinion you can never have enough black, but thats just me... i was trying to think of a paint scheme kinda like the R6 raven with gloss and flat black
