I wanted to change the color of my 240 so I brought it to Maaco. They had it about a week. I got the rear panels reskinned, some minor body work, and metallic black paint on it. I had a 50 percent off coupon on the paint job. I got the most expensive paint job. They also put my spoiler on. Anyway I was always curious about bodywork and the cost of it. The end cost of everything was 1280. I had also heard good and bad things about maaco so I was kinda weary. In the end it looks pretty good, I had to pay extra for the door jambs. It would look stupid if I didn't get them painted. Anyways here's the before and afters:

Before: After:

Yeah, I hear Maaco is really a 'You get what you pay for' kinda place. If you cheap out with them, don't be mad if it looks like **** in a year. Most ppl just use them to get the car looking good enuff to sell. But if you go all out, I've heard their work is pretty good.

BTW... you seriously need more aero now with that spoiler. I'd suggest 180sx side skirts and Type X rear valences...

Damn. That's actually not that bad looking at all, especially for the price and all the work they did to it (the spoilers, the body work, etc.). Once my paint starts showing some signs, I'm gonna take her to get a new paintjob as well. Kudos to you. lol

it'll look better if u have a kit and wheels to go along with the wing, or else it look kinda off. I like type x front bumper, skirts, and valances but paint job is alrite, i think u can get a better job elsewhere with that price

My GTO was painted at the same place in '96, so like 12 years ago and the paint still looks decent on that. I have a 5 year warranty on the 240's paint job.

maaco is a franchise... every one of them is different and they are not trained by "Maaco" standards (if any). so you can go to a maaco with painters who have essentially worked at a high end body shop before. it all depends with them so just check their past jobs to see for yourself.

Yeah I never made it out to any of the meets, I used the Maaco in Freehold btw. Between my friends and I in the Tinton Falls area we've had every 240 style besides the convert. 2 90 hatches, 1 90 coupe, 1 92 coupe, 1 93 Super Hicas hatch, 1 95 , and 1 98. There's a meet in Tinton Falls?

They reskinned the panels and it's a base coat and clear coat. They did all the sanding too.

One Day Paint in California charges $1,300 for b/c paint job without body work.I did have to go back 7 times and repaint my car a few times. Now the paint is chipping off the bumpers. They didn't add Flex for the bumper paint.

I went back to One Day Paint and showed them the cracks in the bumper paint and the bubbles. They said the warranty doesn't cover plastic bumpers.

why does flex matter? did they take the bumper off?

op- looks decent and the tail lights are unique, i woudl say thoguh that u need more aero to pull the wing off
