Still researching the 2011/2012 M56x as a possible "new to me" purchase in the next 6-8 months.

I am a bit bewildered by the various combos of option packages I see on these cars - "technology", "touring", "sport", etc.

What things do you get with these? What gets "excluded" if you take one option package versus another - like no sport package with touring, etc? No "forest air" or Bose sound except with touring, etc?

And, what about the "aero" sport bodykit package I see on some cars (different front bumper/airdam, trunk spoiler, etc) - was that only available with certain option packages and not others? I'd expect it's hella expensive to add to a car that didn't come optioned that way from the factory?

The best is to start with a list of what you want then go around and find that car. The fully loaded models have more junk you'll use once just to try it out and plus there's more weight to haul around and more to go wrong. Forest air! Lmao

sport pkg is separate from the other 3 option packages. advance tech, touring, and premium are the 3 choices I had for 2013.
Before you spend 50k stop at an Infiniti dealer or go to their web site and discuss what options are on the 2012, don't trust my opinion as I have a 2013 or msvara with an 06 .....I found money spent on the these pkg a good value compared to 100 extra horsepower of the 56 vs the 37 but your money your decision .

it's not all about HP. Think Torque and HP together.

420hp,417TQ @ 4400

330hp,270TQ @ 5200

Torque numbers are almost twice and at lower RPMs. With as much fat as our cars has to haul around you want as much Torque as possible.

Like the others said, go out and test drive various M56's and M37's with these different packages and take it from there, it doesn't help to go to your local infinity dealer anyway, just my 2c bruh, good luck with your purchase :) :)

Thanks. Basically these cars are still rare enough on the used market in Canada I will need to travel to find one so just trying to get an understanding of what I should be looking for in terms of options, etc.

Looking at the current model year packages on the Infiniti website, it seems the only way to get the top end Bose sound system is with the "Deluxe Touring and Tech package". The bodykit is a separate option called the "Aero Package".

However the M56x "sport" seems to include all of the touring and tech package stuff, plus you get the 20 inch wheels and beefier brakes.

The question I guess is were things the same in the 2011 and 2012 model years since I will definitely not be buying a "new" 2013.

According to some research that I found, here are your option choices on the M models.

http://infinitihelp.com/models/2011/m/s ... ations.php

IMHO, the technology pkg is a waste of money. My 2006 M35 Sport had all of the option's checked (well minus reclining rear seats and the mobile ent. pkg), and I hardly ever used all of them to their full capability (seat speakers, no thank you :gotme ).. They aren't the exact same as the 2011 model but very close. The only one that I really used to my benefit was the Int. Cruise Control.
Soo, with that being said, make sure you are not paying for options that you do not plan on benefiting from. My current M37 sport is just a Sport model with the Premium pkg & Aero and I'm happy with the coin I spent. Now... If I were to ever trade it, I'll wish I had the selected these other options to help with the resale value, but for the price that I paid at purchase i'm more than happy with what I have.

Whatever you choose, GL and happy hunting.
